Isle of Capri Casino
The name never parsed properly before because I didn’t realize that it was actually a building on top of a boat in order to accomodate the gambling laws. There is no signal down by the roulette wheels so while I have much to say about this godforsaken place, it will be in batches.

Terminator 2
As one of the first 3D and seat-interactive shows, I remember T2 being amazing, but it’s really the weakest attraction here here now. I suspect it will go soon; I just hope it isn’t replaced by Twilight.
Rock-It Rollercoaster
What a great damn idea: have speakers in each seat, and have a selection of genres and artists for each rider to choose. The result: I get to listen to Motley Crue while on a badass rollercoaster. Awesome
Tourist Day the Second
Today we’re doing Universal Studios. Last night we were out until the park closed, so we slept in instead of stressing about getting here before the crowds. It really isn’t that crowded, probably because Harry Potter > The Mummy Returns
Harry Potter
Is basically the awesomest. In line to ride it again
In line
About halfway through the line for Harry Pottering. I’ll let you know if it’s the super awesomest thing
Om nom nom
Man, it’s been at least eight years since I’ve had Pat O’Brien crawfish etoufee, and that’s entirely too long.
Tourist Day the First
Kerry and I are at Islands of Adventure today. The park’s been open an hour, and Harry Potter land is already full. The line for the gift shop in there wad an hour long.
Fortunately the lines for all other rides are short, hooray

Heeeeeyy, Heidelberg
Somehow we’ve lucked into hotels/hostels on the cheap in great locations in all our cities. When we got to Heidelberg we had no plans and no hotel reservations. A stroke of luck took us to the best value in town: right in the middle of everything plus a view of the river and < 100 euros for the night. Robin had to do homework Saturday night so I left him be and took the camera out for...
Last day in Munich! Tomorrow we head for the airport to come home. Any...
European flight novelties
(I wrote this on Friday night regarding the flight from Prague to Frankfurt.)
The RyanAir flight was entertaining. There was no assigned seating, and it just so happened that the one empty seat on the flight was on our row, so we got to pile our stuff in the middle seat. Robin slept the whole flight instead of doing homework, so I’ll have to kick him. They passed out a menu that had...
Prague in a nutshell
Prague: amazingly beautiful city with stunning architecture around every corner.
Prague: overrun by hipsters and tourists.
This picture seemed appropriate for some reason.
Pretty in Prague: Part II
After breakfast (which I posted pics of earlier) we went back to the bridge and took obligatory castle pics: Version one: bemused Version two: squeee! Our goal for the day was to see the castle. We’ve set our standards pretty low on sightseeing this whole trip because we don’t want to stress ourselves out trying to see everything. Also I want as many excuses as possible to come back....
Pretty in Prague: Part I
Catching a cheap flight to Germany meant that we had only an evening and a day in Prague, but I managed to take the most pictures of anywhere we’ve been (including Heidelberg, which is where I’m riding a train from currently). This is because you can’t turn a corner in Prague without seeing amazing architecture or a really old building. Couple this with the cheap food and beer...
Observations on a European metal concert
The concert in Europe was my first outside of the US, and it taught me a few things. First, metalheads dress the same everywhere. Black band shirts, camo pants, old-school denim vests, tattoos, etc. But the differences are what was interesting. For one, not as many people threw the horns. Secondly, I didn’t feel that I could walk with a group of them (this happens often - usually filing in...

Booked a hotel at the Frankfurt airport, but the wrong airport. On a bus for the next 1.5 hours. Yay
ROOOOOOOOOOCK
You may or may not be aware that the entire reason for going to Europe was to see The Big Four in concert; that’s Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica. We arrived during Anthrax’s set, as you can see behind us. We had already bought our shirts and were ready to rock the fuck out
Second set was Megadeth. The sound quality wasn’t so great, so I could barely hear any of the...
Walking tour of Warsaw
Hello, friends, I am back with another narrative of a day in a fine city in Europe. Our flight to Warsaw on Monday got in late, but the hotel/B&B/thing was nice (we discovered later we had the only room with a private bathroom). Well, it was only sort of nice at 6am when the construction outside started, but we learned in subsequent nights that shutting the window didn’t make the room...
Budweiser
Good morning! While we were out at the bar last night I tried Budweiser, which I had heard about but hadn’t seen before. I’m not talking about the American swill you’re thinking; here is more info on the original beer from Budweis. (I have Jeff to thank because otherwise I wouldn’t have known about it.)
As it turns out, the Swedes were just as or more interested in hanging...
Concert-goers unite!
Most of the residents of the hostel where we’re staying are going to the concert! We saw a lot of them walking around town today; they’re easy to spot because they’ve got long hair and are wearing black, metal band shirts. :P There are some Swedes who love Megadeth that I met earlier today that want to go out to grab a beer together, so we’re off! ‘Night!
Amsterdam - now with pictures
We flew and we flew and we flew and I didn’t sleep. I messed around with this shiny camera Mom loaned me so the pictures will be decent, which means I have about 100 pictures of clouds:
We landed in Amsterdam for our 12-hour layover at 8am and hopped a bus to the city and started walking. It was beautiful, full of tourists, and crossing the street is complicated, but we managed to not get...
